ザンビアへの心臓手術技術移転：看護師向け研修を実施！
ザンビア滞在2日目。当初は3/17（金）と18日（土）の2日間の研修予定でしたが、乗り継ぎ地への移動便が遅延して金曜朝予定のザンビア到着が遅れたために、18（土）に集中して看護師向け研修を行いました。
手術室、ICU、病棟、外来を担当する看護師と臨床工学技士、計20名が参加して、朝8時45分より夕方18時まで。
心電図の読み方から、合併症・血行動態・ペースメーカーなどについて、質疑応答を交えながら講義を6時間行い、さらに手術室を担当する看護師を対象に、外科医の考えを理解するために、ブタの心臓を用いて模擬心臓手術を行うウェット・ラボ研修を3時間行いました。
実際に手術道具を使用し、自ら手術を行う場面では、いかに手術室で外科医に負担がかかるのかを体験。和気藹々とした雰囲気の中でも冷や汗をかきながら、実際の手術手順を頭と体で理解してもらいました。
今回の研修は、前回行われたアンケートで、看護師が実務に必要な内容を網羅的に学ぶ機会がほとんど無いので、看護師向けの研修を実施してほしいとの強い要望が示されたために計画されたものです。
看護師に心臓手術に関係する基本的な内容を理解してもらい、さらに外科医の考えを理解することで、迅速にかつ安全に手術が進められて患者さんの治療向上につながればと考えています。
【Cardiac Surgery Technology Transfer to Zambia: Training for Nurses!】
Day 2 of our stay in Zambia. The training was originally scheduled for two days on Fri, 17th and Sat, 18th, but due to a delay in the arrival in Zambia on Friday morning caused by a delayed connecting flight, the training for nurses was concentrated on Sat, 18th.
A total of 20 nurses and clinical engineers in charge of theater, ICU, ward and outpatient participated in the training, which started at 8:45am and lasted until 6pm.
The six-hour training included lectures on topics ranging from how to read an electrocardiogram to complications, hemodynamics, pacemakers, etc., with questions and answers, followed by three hours of wet lab training for nurses in charge of theater, in which simulated heart surgery was performed using a pig’s heart to understand the cardiac surgeon’s thinking.
In the scene where they actually used the surgical tools and performed the operation on the pig’s heart themselves, they experienced how much strain is placed on cardiac surgeons in the theater. In a congenial yet tense atmosphere, the participants were able to understand the actual surgical procedures with their minds and bodies.
This training was planned in response to a previous survey that indicated a strong desire for a training program for nurses, as there are few opportunities for nurses to learn comprehensively what they need to know in practice.
We hope that by providing nurses with an understanding of the basic content related to cardiac surgery, as well as an understanding of the cardiac surgeon’s thinking, the surgery can proceed quickly and safely, leading to improved patient care.
